Laptops are far less upgradeable than desktops — but "less" isn't "none." Knowing what your specific model allows is the difference between a cheap fix and buying a whole new machine.
Usually upgradable
Storage is the big one — swapping a hard drive for an SSD is possible on most laptops and transforms how they feel. RAM is upgradable on many (but not all) models. The battery can usually be replaced even when the maker calls it "non-removable."
Sometimes — it depends on the model
More and more laptops now solder the RAM straight to the board, which means it can't be changed: what you bought is what you've got. Some thin-and-light models solder the storage too. This is exactly why the model matters — two laptops that look identical can be worlds apart inside.
Rarely or never
The processor and graphics are soldered on virtually every laptop — they aren't upgradeable. If you need a lot more raw power, that's a new machine, not an upgrade.
