Wi-Fi that won't connect is frustrating, but most of the time it's fixable in a few minutes. Work down this list.
1. Restart the router and the PC
Unplug the router for 30 seconds, plug it back in, and wait two minutes for it to fully come up. Restart your computer too. This fixes the majority of cases.
2. Check it's not in Airplane Mode
Easy to bump on a laptop. Look for the airplane icon in the taskbar and make sure Wi-Fi is toggled on.
3. Forget the network and reconnect
Settings → Network & Internet → Wi-Fi → Manage known networks → Forget your network, then reconnect and re-enter the password. This clears a bad saved configuration.
4. Is it just one device?
If other devices connect fine, the problem is your PC. If nothing connects, it's the router or your provider. That one check saves a lot of time.
5. Update or reset the network adapter
In Device Manager, find your Wi-Fi adapter and update its driver. Still stuck? Settings → Network & Internet → Advanced → Network reset (this re-installs adapters; you'll re-enter Wi-Fi passwords after).
If your PC still won't connect — or the Wi-Fi adapter itself has failed — we can usually sort it over remote support without you leaving home.
